Description

The 5th Annual Swim Around Keppel 2024 (SAK2024) will be held on Great Keppel Island on Friday – Sunday, August 30- September 1st

Friday and Sunday. 6km swim around The Middle Island.  start ~@12:00. And 1km ~@16:00 (Late ferry on Friday departures GKI @18:20)

A main & unique event, SAK2024 features a circumnavigation-style of Great Keppel Island swim route in tropical waters and covers a total distance of 20km – one of Australia’s longest swimming marathons will take place Saturday, AUGUST 31st. ~@9:45 start

SAK2024 offers a few different swim categories – Individual & Tandem Swim for the 6km and 20km events and Team Relay for the 20km (teams of 3 to 5 swimmers, mixed genders are welcome). Persons aged 14 years and over on the 30th of August 2024 are eligible to register for the Individual & Tandem 20km SAK2024 event. Persons aged 12 years and over on the 30th of August 2024 are eligible to register for the team/relay 20km swim, as well as, 6km and shorted distances on Friday & Saturday, 30 of August & 1 of September.

To enter the Individual (20km) event, a person must have previous open water swimming experience and complete an official open water 10km race under 4 hours. For more information please check Event Info.

Due to the nature of this event, all individual swimmers must be accompanied by an assisting vessel. Teams MUST be accompanied by a motorised support boat.  No motorised vessel is required but recommended for an individual swimmer and no SUPs are allowed, unless a swimmer has a motorised support vessel. KISA boats will be present and stationary every ~1.5 km throughout the course, and numerous KISA PWCs will be navigating. Course markers/buoys might be used.

Individual swimmers and teams will commence at the same time, ~09:45 at The Spit on Saturday, 31st August and proceed in (to be determent) direction around the island to coincide with tidal movement. The swim will officially finish at 5:15pm.The Presentation and After Party will be held at the GKI Hideaway Island Bar & Bistro at 5:30pm. Late boat departure on the day is available, but…why would you want to leave..?
